5 youngsters who can replace Jadeja

The shortest format of the game has given birth to new type of cricketers who are famous for their brutal hitting and handy bowling. The likes of Glenn Maxwell is the best example of the new generation cricketers. He is one of the hardest hitters of cricket ball at the moment while has taken crucial wickets in almost every game. Apart from this, his fielding is an added bonus for the captain of the team. Such players are in big demand these days but when it comes to Team India, there is hardly any player who has established himself as the perfect all-rounder in the team. MS Dhoni, the Indian captain in the shortest formats, has stated numerous time that he needs a player who can play a well matured inning in the end while is capable of turning his arm over in the shortest formats. Irfan Pathan was touted as the best ever solution but he too faded with time. The arrival of Ravindra Jadeja was seen as a delight but this player has also disappointed in the recent times and even if he performs in the upcoming one or two series, it won’t be enough to give him a clean chit. With some exciting talent out in the middle, there are players who can replace him in the Indian team. If one of these youngsters is selected in the squad, he can surely pay rich dividends for MS Dhoni, who is in need of an all-rounder. Here is the list of five players, who are capable of taking Ravindra’s place in the team.

Pawan Negi

He has been a revelation for Chennai Super Kings in the IPL and we have seen in the recent times that players are picked in the ODIs and T20s on the basis of their performance in the cash rich league. Pawan Negi is an economical slow left arm bowler and a handy lower order batsman, who is labeled as the ideal replacement for the struggling Indian all-rounder. He got limited opportunities in the eighth season of the league but impressed everyone with his intelligent bowling and aggressive batting lower down the order. Negi was Dhoni’s go to man and was preferred over Ravindra Jadeja and Dwayne Bravo in case of batting position in many games of the league. He will surely take some time to settle down but its high time for the selectors to take a look at his talent.

Axar Patel

He has played for Team India but opportunities has been limited for him in the team because of Ravindra Jadeja’s preference. The tall all-rounder has done exceptionally well for Kings XI Punjab in the Indian Premier League. His ability to contain the batsmen has fetched him lots of wickets in the most competitive T20 competition across the globe. Apart from his bowling, he has played some match winning innings with his bat and the best part has been his attacking mentality against all sort of bowlers. If this is not enough, he has performed for Gujarat in the Ranji Trophy, which is a prime domestic competition in India. This allround star has shown enough caliber and now its upto the selectors to make sure that his potential is utilized in the best possible manner in the near future. The Kings from Punjab had a miserable outing in the last edition of the league but this didn’t affect Axar’s performance by any means as he finished the tournament as one of the better performers.

Hardik Pandya

He was one of the reasons behind Mumbai Indians IPL triumph in 2015. Hardik Pandya is a complete package who can win matches of his bowling, batting and fielding. The young lad played few match winning knocks for his IPL franchise and even rolled his arm over on few occasions. However, he was underutilized as a player because of other big stars but he was successful in showcasing his talent in front of the world. The best part was his no nonsense attitude towards the game which drew praises from great Sachin Tendulkar, Kieron Pollard, Rohit Sharma and other big stars of the team. This lad should be looked at as far as all-round option is concern. He has enough talent to be one of the leading all-rounders in the near future.

Deepak Hooda

Rajasthan Royals have developed a habit of giving chances to youngsters and Deepak Hooda was one of them in 2015. The talented all-round star didn’t let his team down with match winning knocks in the batting department. He was instrumental in taking his team to good totals with big hits throughout the competition. He got limited chances in the bowling department which somewhat restricted his performance as a bowler, otherwise he is capable of picking up wickets with his slow turners. He has been labeled as a future star by none other than Rahul Dravid, who was in the mentor’s role for Royals in the cash rich league. According to former Indian captain, Deepak is a young guy who has a cool head over his shoulders and can surely be a big thing if handled properly by his teams in the future.

Rishi Dhawan

The last edition of the Indian Premier League was not great for him but he has shown his class in the previous editions and in the domestic circuit too for his Ranji side Himachal Pradesh. He is a fast bowler, who can swing the ball both ways and is known for his tight line and length across the off stump. It is not easy to play him as his nagging bowling line has resulted in the downfall of big batsmen. The captain of his Ranji side had a brilliant Ranji season in 2013-14 which saw him winning the Madhavrao Scindia Award for his achievement. If his bowling is of top quality then there is no question mark over his batting class as well. This strongly built lad is a good batsman, who can score lots of runs in the lower order. He is an interesting player, who can replace Ravindra Jadeja in the team.
