Samsung's Galaxy Tab S2 is slimmer, smaller and squarer

Image
Samsung has  revealed  its new 8-inch and 9.7-inch Galaxy Tab S2 models, and they're considerably different from last year. As revealed by a leak  yesterday , it shrunk both of last year's models  and killed the widescreen (16 x 10) aspect ratio, instead giving them an iPad-like 4 x 3 format. The company said that'll help "recreate the viewing experience of browsing through traditional print media," and make it easier to read e-books and web pages. On the other hand, less of the screen is now available for watching movies, particularly since both Galaxy Tab S2 models have also taken a step down in resolution from QuadHD to 2,048 x 1,536. Obviously, Samsung thinks people use their tablets for reading more often than watching movies. It's placed extra emphasis on that with the new Super AMOLED screen, which has a reading mode that "modifies the screen's brightness level to help users read content for longer periods of time." First impressions: Samsung Galaxy J7

Image
NEW DELHI: Over the last one year, we've seen the Indian mobile landscape take a different shape. Following the entry of brands like Xiaomi, phone makers have discovered they can cut intermediary costs and offer smartphones with mid-range or premium hardware at much lower prices by selling exclusively online. Since then we've seen flash sales and invite-only sales from the likes of Lenovo, Micromax, and OnePlus, and online-only phone models from Huawei, YU, Meizu, CoolPad and InFocus. Now, big players like Samsung, which were out of the online-only race (partly due to their large offline dealer and distributor networks), have also decided join the bandwagon. The Korean giant has launched Galaxy J7 and J5 4G-enabled Android smartphones that offer superior specifications compared to some higher-priced mid-range phones from the company. The phones will retail exclusively on Flipkart and will not be sold offline. We spent some time with the Galaxy J7 and here are our first impres...

Samsung’s “see-through” Safety Truck allow drivers to see the road ahead

Image
Every driver hates getting stuck in traffic behind a bus or truck. To make matters worse, it is often risky to try to pass them since you don’t have a very clear view of what’s ahead. In a single-lane highway, the maneuver is even more dangerous. In order to reduce accidents, a new truck aims to help drivers in situations like these.   Developed by Samsung in Argentina – where one person dies in a traffic accident nearly every hour – the “Safety Truck” attempts to reduce accidents on the roads by showing what’s ahead on a huge screen on the back of the truck Images are captured by a camera on the front of the vehicle and transmitted on four monitors installed in the back of the truck. “The monitors give drivers behind the truck a view of what is going on ahead, even in the dark of night,” the company said on their website. Samsung Safety Truck is a partnership held between Samsung and the Argentine brand Ingematica. ...
