According to ESPN's Dan Le Batard and Brian Windhorst, the Miami Heat have traded Zoran Dragic and a future second-round pick to the Boston Celtics for a heavily-protected second-round pick. LeBatard notes that Dragic's brother and starting Heat point guard Goran Dragic is "fine" with the trade since Zoran wants more playing time.
This was a cost-saving and roster-clearing move by the Heat. Dragic hardly played, and with the recent trade of Shabazz Napier to the Orlando Magic, the Heat are trying to get under the luxury-tax bill.
According to the Boston Globe's Adam Himmelsbach, the Celtics will waive Dragic and the Heat have agreed to pay his salary. For Boston, this trade was mainly about the second-round pick, which gives the Celtics an asset in future trades.
